Programming Submissions Guidelines
The Friends of the West Roxbury Library presents several events each year featuring speakers and authors we believe will inspire, engage, fascinate, inform, educate, and enrich our community. The Friends board curates these programs to create opportunities for learning, curiosity, and civic connection.
Due to limited programming slots, the Friends Board of Directors’ Programming Committee selects speakers and authors in advance of each season.
If you would like to suggest a program, speaker, or author for consideration, please review the guidelines below and submit the requested materials.
Please email submissions to:FriendsoftheWestRoxburyLibrary@gmail.com
Submissions should include:
A brief biography
Proposed talk topic, including a description
Audience (adults, children, teens, etc.)
Proposed dates (note: the library is only available for programming on Monday evenings and Saturdays.)
Relevant websites and online links
Video samples, if available
Other supporting or related materials (reviews of your book, etc)
A list of previous speaking engagements
Any audio-visual or other tech requirements needed for your presentation
Please note:
Commercial or promotional agendas will not be considered
Inflammatory rhetoric is not permitted
Religious or partisan political advocacy is not permitted
If selected, you will be required to complete a CORI check
Presentations must be grounded in credible, responsible scholarship
Thank you for your interest in suggesting programming for a Friends of the West Roxbury Library event. The Programming Committee will review all submissions. If a proposal aligns with our programming goals and current needs, we will contact you regarding next steps.
Please note that we have very few open opportunities each season, and as a nonprofit organization, we operate with a limited budget. We appreciate your interest and your support! Thanks again!
